Type 2 Diabetes

Type 2 diabetes occurs mostly in people over the age of 40 years old. Although patients with type 2 diabetes have functional beta cells and produce insulin, the ability of the body to use insulin is decreased. This is known as insulin resistance. With time, many type 2 patients will eventually stop producing insulin altogether.
