Novo Nordisk is a world leader in diabetes care and also manufactures and markets a variety of other pharmaceutical products. Our aspiration is to defeat diabetes by finding better methods of diabetes prevention, detection and treatment. We will work actively to promote collaboration between all parties in the healthcare system in order to achieve our common goals.

World prevalence of diabetes

• 194 million people with diagnosed diabetes in 2003¹ 
• 333 million estimated to have diabetes in 2025¹
• Approximately 10% have type 1 diabetes and 90% have type 2 diabetes

Prevalence of diabetes in Australia²

Around 1 million people in the Australia have diabetes, yet half of these people are unaware that they have it:

• 10 – 15% of those with diabetes have type 1 diabetes
• 85 – 90%  of those with diabetes have type 2 diabetes
• Rates of type 2 diabetes in some Aboriginal and Torres Straight Islander communities may be among the highest in the world
