Prevalence of diabetes in Australia ²
Around 1 million people in the Australia have diabetes, yet half of these people are unaware that they have it:

• 10 – 15% of those with diabetes have type 1 diabetes
• 85 – 90%  of those with diabetes have type 2 diabetes
• Rates of type 2 diabetes in some Aboriginal and Torres Straight Islander communities may be among the highest in the world
• 5% of pregnant woman are affected by gestational diabetes³
